3. What are generic drugs?

When most people think of generic drugs they think that it is a lower quality product in comparison to brand name drugs. In all truth, generic drugs are very similar to as brand name drugs but much cheaper. They serve the same purpose, are taken the same way, and have the same side effects, etc. The only other difference besides the price is the appearance of the medication. This distinction does not change the effectiveness, or safety of a generic drug in comparison to its brand name version.

The reason for the significantly lower prices of generic drugs is that the manufacturers of these drugs do not have to put money into the research and development that goes into creating a drug. Once the patent of a brand name drug expires, companies are allowed to essentially make copies of the drug. These copies then have to be approved before they are sold. All generics must have the same active ingredient and work in the same manner as the brand name counterparts.

20. Why do the pills I ordered from Canada Med Shop look different from the ones I get from my local pharmacy?

Check the pills and see if you are accustomed to brand name pills and you ordered the generic form from us. Generic medication will look different than brand name medication, but both have the same active ingredient and work in a comparable way. If you have ordered the brand name and it still looks different it is because brand names in Canada may look slightly different than the US version of the medication. If you are comparing two generic versions of the same drugs from different generic companies they will look different.
